Fun for the whole family
Dr. Dobson is wrapped around the axel because of comments he made about my hero SpongeBob. Dr. Dobson made the statement that SpongeBob's creators had enlisted him in a "pro-homosexual video." When his comments began to get serious air time, Dr. Dobson's organization went on the offensive against some of the media folks who highlighted Dr. Dobson's comments.
Unfortunatly, things didn't turn out quite like Dr. Dobson had planned.
I don't think Dr. Dobson is a bad person, but I do think he's off base. He says:

Help! I'm doing web design and I can't stop
I've made extensive modifications to the Gutwin's Home Page. The problem is that once I fix one thing, I have another idea for improving something else. I've been at this for hours (and hours). There's no food in the house - the laundry needs to be done - the place is a mess - but I keep having cool ideas.
Somebody stop me...

I've been busy...
For those interested, I've been busy:
- Spend last week in Phoenix - yes, lots of sun and a modest amount of fun, but I missed Beth a lot (I had to share a room - I really don't like that at all). It wasn't a good time.
- Spent this week in Florida and Austin. I am happy to stipulate that I really enjoy the people I work with, but I missed Beth, and that really takes a lot away from my enjoyment of my co-workers.
Rebecca has returned which I'm very grateful for. It's cold here in Vermont, which I'm also (paradoxically) grateful for. Karl is making progress, and Anna is focusing on the things important to her. And I still have 10 fingers and toes, a full head of hair and steam, all of which I value very highly.
All in, things are going OK.

Out of this world
The Cassini-Huygens probe is sending back the most amazing pictures. The probe is sending back new, raw pictures of the surface of Titan, but the above picture taken of Dione and Saturn during decent is very, very cool.

It's sort of deceiving...
President Bush is at it again, but this time it's not just the Dems who are questioning the "crisis" our Social Security system faces outlined by the President. Bob Aderholt (R-Alabama) agrees that change is needed, but doesn’t believe the Social Security system is about to fall apart.
"It's sort of deceiving when we talk about the situation being that we are on the brink of disaster. We're not. It will be several decades before the system goes bankrupt," says Aderholt.
It reminds me of the crisis we faced in 2003 when the world was an unsafe place because of Iraq's Wepons of Mass Destruction according to President Bush's keen analysis of the situation.
I think there's a pattern here.

For the record...
I've been reading Dan Gilmor's blog with a lot of interest. (If it's not on your list, make it so.) This recent piece reminded me that being "on the record" makes a difference. Hanging back - not being willing to say what you believe with conviction and respect takes something away from all of us.
Please, for everyone's sake - make a difference with what you believe. Don't keep it bottled up.

Lost in the Myst
My daughters gave me Myst 4 for Christmas but my iMac didn't have the required DVD drive. Time pressure led me to install the new Superdrive myself. A few notes from the overall experience:
- The iMac (flatpanel in my case) is terrible and wonderful to behold. It's an engineering work of art on the inside as much as on the outside.
- Myst 4 is a very cool game. If you're into this sort of thing, run (don't walk) to your nearest electronics game store and secure a copy.
- As much as I love the Myst series, it's simply not that believable for me. No, I don't mean the fantastic worlds, but the lack of bathrooms anyplace. These people look human, but...

My luck can't be all bad
The President had these useless economic meetings, and he completely missed the big opportunity - lucky food.
I call for a Lucky Food Summit - to find, and eat all the Lucky Food this nation can stomach...

That's odd...
Apparently President Bush can ask the country to go to war by himself, but needs a little help asking for disaster relief.
