Becca's New Bike!
Per request, I am displaying my newly-purchased road bike. This bike was previously owned by a triathlete who is currently a patient at the gym, and it is adorned both by a Team USA sticker and one of the Canadian flag. After I finally received the shoes and pedals that seemed to take an eternity to get here, I installed them relatively easily and took my first ride around the block. Unfortunately for me, I can't spend as much time on the bike this summer as I would like, since I'm trying to beat up the erg as much as possible in preparation for my senior year of rowing. Still, I'm having a lot of fun on it when I can. This morning, I hit 36 mph going down a hill in a headwind!

Cool! Thanks. Is the seat usually above the handlebars like that, or is it special for you? And does it really have a speedometer on it? Well, excellent. Good choice. Now it has to wait for you to retire from competitive rowing and start being a triathlete (because you know that's what's next).

Well, I raised both the seat and the handlebars to make the bike fit me a little better. I would probably be more comfortable on a 56 cm frame, but this one is a 54 and will work fine. I use my GPS device when I go out on rides to track time, distance, and speed (it has a setting that can alternate between pace for running and speed for biking). And if you look at the enlarged picture really closely, you can see a brown spot on the edge of the saddle. That's the saddle I used when I rode my dad's bike a couple of summers ago, and consequently the one I was riding when I got into the accident. I think it's cool that my saddle has a scar...
