Lab rotation number two
Here's where I've spent many an hour over the past few weeks. I really have done very little other than working on this computer attempting to build a working model of a protein which the lab prof is trying to crystallize. It's been interesting work but I'm ready for a change....

Ah - Nice desk and chair, but I don't see you. How do we know it's your spot?

Proof by frustration:
The computer is an SGI.
Nobody in the lab knows two clicks about computers except myself.
In order for the computer to do any sort of useful work, useful programs would need to be installed on it.
Therefore, I installed the necessary software. And had to deal with a "civilized" computer lacking such things as emacs and OpenSSH.
ummmm....
I'm the only person in the lab who would put up with IRIX?
uhhhhh......
It just is, ok?
